Free Drug Card Saves West Virginia Residents Over $24 Million
CHARLESTON, WV (October 17, 2016) – West Virginia residents have saved over $24 Million on prescription drugs through the West Virginia Rx Card since the launch of their free prescription assistance program. The program, which offers free discount drug cards to residents, provides savings of up to 75 percent on prescription drugs at participating pharmacies.
There are no restrictions to membership, no income requirements, no age limitations and there are no applications or waiting periods. Anyone interested in receiving a pre-activated free card can visit www.westvirginiarxcard.com.
“West Virginia State Medical Association is committed to offering programs like this that make a positive impact on our physicians’, and their patients’ said WVSMA President Rahul Gupta, MD, FACP. “We will continue to make the West Virginia Rx card available to our physician members,” he added.
West Virginia Rx Card was launched to help the uninsured and underinsured residents of West Virginia afford their prescription medications. However, the program can also be used by people who have health insurance coverage with no prescription benefits, which is common in many health savings accounts (HSA) and high deductible health plans.
Additionally, people who have prescription coverage can use this program for non-covered drugs.
West Virginia residents can print a free card, search drug pricing, and locate participating pharmacies at www.WestVirginiaRxCard.com or www.wvsma.com.
